On November 2, 2020, the Town Council of the Town of Mount Airy will hold a public hearing at Town Hall, 110 South Main Street, Mt. Airy, MD 21771 beginning at 7:15 p.m. regarding a proposed ordinance to amend the Town Code provisions changing and/or clarifying the time frame within which the Planning Commission has to review and make recommendation on proposed changes to Chapter 98 (Subdivision of Land and Site Plan Review) and Chapter 112 (Zoning), and when those time frames commence. The ordinance would, in the case of annexations, change the commencement from the annexation’s referral to the Planning Commission by the Town Council to the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Planning Commission after referral by the Town Council. The ordinance also proposes to clarify that Planning Commission time frame in which to review and make recommendation on proposed Chapter 98 and 112 changes will likewise commence with the first regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission after referral to the Commission by the Town Council. The proposed ordinance also proposes extending Chapter 112 review period changes from 60 to 90 days, and to clarify that the review period for proposed changes to Chapter 98 is 90 days. A copy of the proposed ordinance, Ordinance No. 2020-23, is available for review on the Town’s Web Page https://www.mountairymd.gov/. While the hearing will be conducted in person in the Town Council Chamber, due to the COVID-19, attendance in the chamber during the hearing may be limited, with some of the limited capacity reserved for interested parties.
